SOD It!
Slowly getting back to normal ...
So, off I went to the Doctors on Friday. He didn't even so much as examine me, but on the strength of my description of my symptoms, his probable diagnosis is Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (or SOD for short!). It seems that the Sphincter of Oddi is a little muscular valve that regulates the flow of bile into the stomach (or something!). Sometimes it can go into spasm, causing the bile to get stuck and then hence the pain (or something like that ... I was just happy to get some sort of diagnosis, I wasn't that bothered about the mechanics of it!)
He gave me some anti-spasmodics to take, and told me to use Paracetamol. It seems that the Co-Codamol I've been taking contains opiates (no wonder I've been so spaced out) which can make the symptoms worse!
Despite feeling ill beyond belief I dragged myself off to work afterwards ... but it became clear within about ten minutes after getting there that I wasn't going to last the day - I managed an hour and a half and then gave up, I felt so sick. By 1.00 pm I was tucked up in bed and managed a blissful couple of hours sleep until Sean got home from school. You don't need to know everything that happened after that, but lets just say I was VERY ill ...
I've been a lazy cow all weekend ... I stayed tucked up in bed until late on Saturday night, when I got up for a couple of hours at Sean's insistence. I got lots of sleep, and could have got loads of scrapping done if it weren't for the fact that I had no interest whatsoever in even looking at my laptop, let alone firing it up to play ... proof indeed that I was feeling distinctly under par!
Anyway, today is Monday and I've been to work and am feeling much better now. Let's hope I get completely back to normal quickly!
