Sock It To Me!
Oopsy. My Pure Purl arrived on Tuesday, and indeed was full of luscious scrumptiousness. Two skeins of Noro Kureyon Sock, one of Araucania Ranco Multy and one of Malabrigo Lace. Yum.
Then yesterday, my order from Kemps arrived. Double oopsy! Sixteen skeins of Regia sock yarn (though that's only eight socks-worth). So now I have a lot more yarn that needs to be knit up into an assortment of lusciousness.
I got a good start on my second Seaweed sock on Wednesday, when Ethan's school was shut because of the snow. I was going to take him into work with me for a few hours as I had some important stuff to do (like helping to cancel a big meeting), but given that it took us an hour to drive one mile from here to Sean's school, I decided (once we'd got onto the main road into town to discover that it was gridlocked) that it just wasn't worth the hassle, so we came home instead and had a Mummy-Ethan snow day. Actually, it just consisted of nice hot drinks (hot chocolate for him and cappuccino for me), snuggles, TV, Wii and knitting. Oh, and a half hour snowball fight in the front garden. But the main thing for me was the knitting!
During the week I discovered that there is a stitch and bitch group meeting in town on Saturday mornings, and luckily for me I was able to go and check it out today. I'd been to City Hospital with Colin for his ENT appointment (which wasn't so great, but more about that another time), and didn't expect to be finished until after noon, but we were in and out within an hour, so I got Col to drop me into town. I have to say I had a great time, it was nice to meet some other knitters, drink cappuccino and get some knitting done. Afterwards I mooched around the haberdashery department in House of Fraser to see what else they had on sale. I nearly treated myself to five skeins of purple Rowan Summer Tweed, at a bargainous price of £15, but talked myself out of it given that 600 yards is not enough to make a top with. I know when I've lost loads more weight it would be, but what's the point of buying it now if I'm going to have to wait for ages to use it? Very sensible, methinks. Plus the aforementioned 20 skeins of yarn that came to live here earlier this week.
Yay! I finished my second Seaweed sock tonight. I must say I really enjoyed knitting them, and they were really economical on yarn - I had 34 g of yarn left. If you've never bought any of Lilith's yarns, you should really check them out - the quality is second to none, and the merino/bamboo blend that I used for my socks is sumptuous. It has a lovely sheen that really makes the pattern on the socks pop, and gives it a sort of iridescent quality that makes it change colour when you look at it in different lights. I will take photos tomorrow (if I can find the battery charger). I'm really really happy with them, I'll definitely be knitting another pair at some point.
So now I only have one project on the needles. I need to choose one of my many new sock yarns and get cast on for more socks, but I'm undecided whether to knit more socks for me or whether to start my secret sock project - it would be good to do some secret socks, but I'm having difficulty finding the right pattern for what I want.
In the meantime, maybe my Hypoteneuse will get a look in, since it seems to have been taking a back seat this week!

There was a bag of 8 balls of purple summer tweed on sale there as well - but I got to it during the week! So far I've bought 31 balls of yarn from that sale - oops!
