Knit Is The New Scrap
Or is it?? There's been lots in the news recently about celebrity knitters, and it seems that knitting is once again taking hold as a popular craft to indulge in. I went to Aldi this afternoon with Seanie to get some veg for our dinner, and stumbled across a veritable feast of knitting kits. Okay, there was only the choice of a scarf or a wrap, both in eyelash yarn, but it was the colours of this one that spoke to me - a sumptuous blend of hot pink, blue/grey, black and a peachy beige ... so into my trolley it went - and at just £2.99 it was a bargain!I haven't done any knitting since I was pregnant with Sean - and that's a LONG time - but it all soon came pouring back. All in all it took a couple of hours, and it was just 89 stitches and 15 rows - nice and quick. I wasn't so keen on the circular needles though, they were a real pain.
And naturally it clashes dreadfully with my wonderfully lairy top (another bargain at under a fiver from the Ambrose Wilson sale), but my goodness me, I'm looking superdelish with my lovely new hairdo (which I had done last weekend).
So, as a pleasant distraction on a Saturday afternoon it was nice, but I don't think I'll be investing in lots of different sized needles and patterns etc, though that could be because eyelash yarn is a bit of a pain to knit with. I do rather have a hankering to maybe have a go at knitting some socks - Ethan would love that, even if no-one else would (and the advantage of knitting socks for Ethan is that he only has little feet, so they wouldn't take too long to knit). Who knows, maybe I will become a knitter again. But probably not!
So, last time I blogged we were almost on the last leg of the decorating. I'm happy to say that we've been back in our lovely living room for almost two weeks now. I am absolutely loving it! Our new couches are lovely and comfy, and look very posh, and it's all looking fabulous. We're picking up our wooden floor tomorrow - we went for the bamboo (toffee coloured) in the end, and I can't wait to get it down - though that probably won't be until the end of the month now. Once that's done we can crack on with getting the other cupboard back in and just put the finishing touches in - like a nice big rug, some blinds and some curtains. My only problem then will be educating my boys to not drop stuff on the floor.Obviously, you can see from the picture that we were still in a bit of a mess, but we've got the carpet out now and it's much tidier. Colin is going to disconnect the gas fire and then we're going to remove it and open up the original hearth.
What else has been happening? I've been really busy at work - no change there - but it seems to have been hectic at home as well, with parents evening for both Sean and Ethan (both got great reports), options evening for Sean (he's hoping to do business studies and geography), and numerous other things going on. But I suppose it keeps life interesting!
I still don't seem to have much in the way of mojo though - which is really annoying as I have lots of photos waiting to be scrapped!
