Warming My Neck ...
So I'm late doing this, mainly because there has been so much going on recently, and I haven't really had time to sit and think about my answers for this one. But as I'm off from work until next Monday (bliss! but it will go sooooo quickly, I'm sure) I suppose I'd better get on with it.
My favourite neck warming pattern: wow, I've found so many lovely scarfy patterns recently on Ravelry, and here are some of them:
I know the Everyday Wrap isn't really a neck warmer as such ... but it's so pretty, and so elegant, so I have my eye out for a bargain on some Kidsilk Haze so that I can knit it. I think I'd need to make it bigger than the pattern says though, otherwise it won't fit. And I have no idea exactly when I'd get to wear it either, but what the hell.
As for a favourite finished object, I've got to say the Everyday Wrap comes very close to the top of my list, as does the Japanese Wave scarf. There are so many lacy scarf patterns out there to choose from, but sadly most of them don't float my boat. However, I do really like the scarf I made for my friend Hilary for Christmas (still haven't been thanked); it was quick and easy and the fun part was dropping all the stitches at the end.
Here it is in all it's glory ... I just loved the slightly crunchy texture of the ribbon when it was done.
Style of neck warmer I like: I really like scarves that are long enough to fold in half lengthwise, so that you can pull the ends through the loop (ie, the same as how the the Japanese Waves scarf is worn in the picture above); but I've also seen cowls and neck warmers that I like. I suppose anything goes really, as long as it's pretty. The other scarf I really like is the Tokyo scarf (it's on Ravelry somewhere) from the book '101 Designer Yarn Stash Wonders' - it's knitted on big needles and is very open, but I can't seem to find the yarn it calls for online. Another favourite is
Does that help my swap mate, I wonder? Probably not!
