Tax Doesn't Have To Be Taxing ...
... Unless your name is Kate and you have two personal and one partnership tax return to file online today.
We had a meeting with our Accountant this morning and came back fired up ready to get the blooming things done. Colin is fast asleep, as he didn't come home until around 1.00 am this morning from work, then he made some stamps, so it was about 2.30 when we got to bed. He was up and out before 7.00 am today and hence is a bit tired. So it falls to me to submit to Messrs HMRC.
Personal tax returns, no problem. Done, and tax paid. And then I discover that the Accountant has e-mailed some figures that we need to put on. Oh poo. Fortunately, you can amend the return after it's been submitted. So I start doing that, only to find myself thoroughly confused by what I'm filling in where. E-mailed the Accountant to clarify and am still waiting for a reply. In the meantime, have been trying frantically to start doing the partnership return. Except when I log in, there's no partnership return available online for me to start filling in. Feeling a slight panic I have finally managed to get through to the self-assessment helpline, who say that they are aware there may be an issue with the online submission for partnerships. All I can do is keep trying and hope I can get in, otherwise I have to ring them on Monday. Well, at least they will have on record that I have spoken to them because it doesn't work.
In the meantime I will have to wait and see if the Accountant e-mails back, or until Colin wakes up, and see if we can work it out together. I hate this time of year. I still have the VAT return to think about as well. Oh joy.
