More Bike Tales

After Sean got home, we went out and put my lights on my bike and adjusted the height of the saddle. Although it was bitterly cold out, we went out afterwards. It seems that I really cannot ride a bike. I suppose if I'm fair to myself, it is a lot of years since I last rode properly, and I am both older and fatter now.

Okay, at least now I can more or less get on and off the damn thing. Practice makes perfect. But (and yes, I do have a very big one) it seems the problem I have now is that the saddle is too low. I can just about reach the ground at the height its at now, but it makes it difficult to then reach the pedals when they're at the top height. So, Sean reckons I need to work on balance first ... and he made me freewheel down the road. I started off on the pavement, but every time I started to get up a bit of speed I started to get panicky and would have to brake. But we get to a certain point and the pavement gets really narrow (a big bushy bush in the way), so he made me go on the road. I found it a lot easier and managed quite a bit before I had to brake.

Yes, I'm a wuss. But I freewheeled a bit down the road. Okay, so I said by the end of the week I'd be riding properly. Did I say at the end of WHICH week though? We shall persevere. Once I get the balance bit sorted, I think the saddle will have to be shifted up a big higher.

Oh, and my bum hurts!
