On My Travels

Get me! I'm sitting in my very nice hotel room in a 4-star hotel in the heart of Paddington, blogging. I've always wanted to be able to blog from an exotic location, and this is probably as exotic as it is going to get, me thinks.

I am here because tomorrow is the MCLOSA meeting, and I have to be at the venue at stupid o'clock in the morning to get set up. My train journey passed uneventfully (I knitted most of the way down) and I got a taxi to the hotel and chilled out for a couple of hours watching TV. I am happy to report that I have a superkingsize bed - ALL TO MYSELF - yay! and the decor in the room is very nice. There's a complimentary bottle of red wine (not going to open that as I need a clear head for tomorrow), complimentary fruit and some complimentary soft drinks (but I still just bought a couple of bottles of sparkling water cos the stuff here is still, and I don't like still).

I have amazed myself tonight, I left the hotel just after 6.00 pm and went for a walk around. I blithely took myself off to Garfunkels for dinner - I have NEVER gone to a restaurant on my own, and I thought I would be terrified (I am someone who never seems to go anywhere without one of the kids by my side), but I was fine. Dinner was good, and I have just got back and am feeling proud of myself for not being a wuss.

Anyway, time to practice some more German, as I haven't had a chance for several weeks and I have forgotten it all! Then maybe a bit more knitting, followed by an early night as I am shattered and I need to be up early anyway.

Ciao!
