Day 1
So the first day of a new year.
Like, I'm sure, many others, my thoughts turn to getting organised to start the new year. Although I never manage to stay organised, at least I show willing for a few days. So today I photographed all my stash and updated my stash page on Ravelry. At least now I am unlikely to forget what I've got, and having it all laid out there in front of me might tempt me less to go and buy more, at least until I've used up more of what I have already.
I made a 'knittylution' this year - I don't care how much it costs, if I see some yarn that I simply *must* have, then have it I will. My aim is to knit lots of little things, so buying just one skein of a luxury yarn won't break the bank (and if I buy it from my own account rather than from the joint account, Colin will never know mwah haha ha hahahahhhahahaaaaa). If I knit lots of little things, I can get a head start on my Christmas 2009 knitting, which will avoid me feeling so stressed mid-December at the thought of so many half finished projects.
Talking of half finished projects, my Chimney Sweep scarf is coming along nicely. Although I started off with the Wisp pattern, I decided to modify it almost as soon as I'd started. So far I've done 12 rows of garter stitch, followed by 20 rows of fishnet lace; and then I'm going to do garter stitch until I get to the other end, then the 20 rows of fishnet lace and 12 rows of garter. I decided to do it this way because I could see that I am very likely to catch and pull it if I did lots of the fishnet lace, so the lace will be a nice border on the bottom. If that makes sense.
Time to do a bit more, methinks. Then an early night would be a good idea - it was 3.00 am before we got to bed this morning, and almost midday when we woke up ... but how decadent to be able to laze in bed for that long!
