Progress
I lay awake most of the night listening to torrential rain - the top bit of the window was open and I can't reach it without standing on something (and I didn't think standing on something with vertigo was an option), so lay awake and listen I did. It seemed to go on for hours, and, as you do, my mind started imagining all sorts of horrific scenarios. Like, when there was a lull in the torrents and I could hear streams of water pouring down into the drain outside on the street, my overactive imagination convinced me that in fact our pipes had burst and were flooding the house and the street - silly cow!
I did eventually drop off at God only knows what time this morning, but I was awake at 6.30 am, shaking Colin awake as it was time for him to get up to go to work - and he was totally dumbfounded when I told him he'd need to check that his van was still parked outside, in case it had floated away in a flood (he slept right through the rain). So, come 7.00 am I was up and dressed, and down here in the lounge having another little knit. Another repeat of the lace pattern done, so 14 down and maybe 12 or 14 more to go. I am starting to feel hopeful that I might manage to finish it in time.
Then another couple of hours upstairs in the bedroom, and I am almost at the point now where the old bed can go and the new bed can come in, after the whole room has been vacuumed to within an inch of its life, naturally. I have sorted out the mountain of clothes that were piled in a corner - some for the wash, some for the basket (ie they can be washed any time in the future, like winter jumpers etc), and lots that went in the bin - anyone who knows me well knows that I have a real inability to part with any of my clothes, so the fact that I managed it today makes me feel good. There's nothing much I can do now until Colin comes home from work or Sean comes home from wherever he's gone with his Dad.
It looks like it might rain yet again, but despite that I have washing on the line and another load ready to go out. It'll dry eventually I suppose, one way or the other!
So, after saying I was going to knit a bit more before bed last night ... I didn't. Instead, I got creative and had a play with some digi supplies - and here's the result. It's the Fugly family from Fuglington! These photos are so NOT flattering (except the one of Ethan, he always looks cute and gorgeous) - but these are the ones that have ended up on our passports ...It was so nice to do a layout just for me, with no pressure to do a CT layout or something for a challenge. I'm going to go and put the next load of washing out, make Ethan a sandwich and then, shock horror, I'm going to scrap SOME MORE! Eek!
